  • georgie reizenTravel by public transport : Bus Tbilisi - Telavi, since 2002 there are brand new busses running 5 times per day (last bus departs around 17:00) from Samgori station (reachable by metro), from Didube there are no busses, about 2 hours traveling.
  • Tsinandali : Chavchavadze park (with museum, high grass, not interesting), wine brewery (at the end of the park, nice test room, 11-15:00, weekend closed. If you want to visit it better reserve on phone 877-47-0488. There is only russian/Georgian explanations, 3 lari including wine testing).
  • Museum Telavi : was restored in may 2002.
  • Ahlaverdi : beautiful church.
  • Budget hotel - hotels : guest rooms are availeble at Nana Shaverdashvili's place, Nadikvaris Kucha 9 (brown painted steel door to the right of the small, ruined hotel Telavi, opposite the fort with the museum), phone 32185, nanavi2000@yahoo.com. Rooms cost 10 lari per night per person, 5 lari for meals. Nana belongs to a small group friends offering guest rooms, she speaks a little bit of english. The room is very clean and has shower with warm water, the problems with electricity are to a big part solved since 2002. Her brother has an enormous knowledge about football and even knew the recent results of the belgian 4th leauge...
  • Take care : in the region around Ahmeta (Pankisi gorge) there are still rumours of Chechen rebels, check on the safety situation on the embassy web sites of Great Britain or Germany before going there.
