Thanks for your web that gives a lot of precious information of the area around Salekard (and not only !!!).
We are a group of 3 travellers that has been in many areas of Russia.
We are part of an Italian traveller Association.
We would like to reach this August Salekhard by boat from Tobolsk and to meet nomad people (reindeer herders) in their environment. We know that in summer (August 2005) is not so easy to reach them, but in any case, we would like some advise from you.
1) Do we need a special permission to reach Salekard and than Antipajuta by boat ?
2) If we need a special permission, how we can get it ?
3) Do you suggest to get in touch with a local travel operator in order to have a mean of transportation to reach the nomads ? Do you know somebody ?
4) If it's impossible to reach Antipajuta, do you suggest us an alternative in order to meet nomads ?
5) Have you published in English your guide regarding this area ?
